Delegates to the Marketing Week Live event that takes place from 30 June to 1 July at Olympia, London, will be able to post questions to conference speakers via their mobile phone browser. That is just one of the innovative interactive features provided by the show's official mobile web site created and hosted by Wapple: http://mwlive.mobi.
Prior to the show, visitors will be able to register for the event on the mobile site, prompted by text messages, and also view the conference timetable, directions, travel information and opening hours.
At the event, Wapple is also providing a Bluetooth transmitter that will send out links to the mobile site on arrival and also manage text alerts and reminders with links to the mobile site. Posters with the URL link, QR codes and text short codes will also take visitors to the site.
For what is believed to be the first time at any conference event, delegates can submit live questions to speakers and panelists via the mobile site to provide a unique interactive experience.
"The idea of posting questions to speakers and panelists is a very exciting experiment and could prove extremely useful for conferences in some parts of the world where delegates are less likely to ask questions from the floor," said Nolan O'Connor, Marketing Director at Centaur Exhibitions.
"As the Marketing Week Live event is about getting results from integrating online technologies and marketing techniques, we wanted to practice what we preached," said Sally Maltby, Event Director, Online Marketing Show. "Wapple was able to combine existing content with new made for mobile features to very quickly create a great pre-show and in-show mobile experience for visitors, regardless of what phone they are using."
The Marketing Week Live site was created using the Wapple Canvas™ design and publishing platform; while Wapple Architect™ based on Wapple's new WAPL (Wapple Application Programming Language), meant that the existing PC web registration system could simply be mobilised and integrated. The Wapple Exhibit™ device profiler, mobile browser detection and delivery engine provides dynamic and intelligent optimisation so that the mobile site is accurately rendered and displayed on all mobile devices, from first generation handsets to the latest smartphones, as soon as they are launched onto the market.
"Event organisers are increasingly looking at using mobile as a powerful way to promote their events and provide a more personal and interactive experience at the event itself," said Anne Thomas, COO at Wapple. "The Marketing Live Event is the ideal platform to demonstrate what can be achieved using Wapple mobile publishing solutions."
Marketing Week Live comprises four exhibitions, three established events; Online Marketing Show, Insight Show, the In-Store Show and a launch event; Data Marketing Show. Each exhibition will host specific companies and suppliers dedicated to marketing discipline.
Wapple will be exhibiting in the Online Marketing Show on stand A320.
